Bowflex Revolution Review: Changing The Way You Workout
You know you’re a fitness aficionado when you read a Bowflex Revolution review and start sweating with excitement. If you’re not sweating now, you will be when you read about the new, more versatile and easier to use Revolution by Bowflex.
Bowflex offers numerous types of fitness equipment and home gyms with various levels of versatility. For example:
Bowflex Ultimate 2 has 95 exercise possibilities Bowflex Ultimate XTLU has more than 90 possibilities Bowflex Xtreme 2 has more than 70 possibilities Bowflex Xtreme has more than 65 possibilities Bowflex Sport has more than 60 possibilities
All these models have been proven to be effective home gyms and are praised by numerous owners. The Bowflex website lists hundreds of testimonial letters from satisfied customers. However, the recently released Bowflex Revolution, review below, may surpass all the older models in customer satisfaction.
The Revolution, originally developed exclusively for astronauts, offers hundreds of workouts and exercise variations. Realizing how well it worked for astronauts, Bowflex modified it for in-home use so that everyone could benefit from it. Its closest cousin, the Bowflex Ultimate 2 model, offers only a maximum of 95 exercise variations.
Like other Bowflex home gyms, owning a Revolution is like having your own fitness center in your home. It replaces a variety of different pieces of fitness equipment because you can basically work out every single part of your body. And it’s just one piece of equipment, which offers a huge amount of resistance with the new SpiraFlex Technology.
The newly designed Revolution is also the quietest and most easy to use fitness equipment ever manufactured by Bowflex.
Like other Bowflex machines, the Revolution can also be folded and easily stored away. And, when they designed it, they also kept in mind that many homes have low ceilings, especially in the basement. So, it will fit in just about any room.
Before the Revolution, the company referred to the Bowflex Ultimate 2 as the “top-of-the-line” machine with the best design of any of their fitness equipment available. Now the company believes the “cutting edge” in terms of home gyms belongs to the Bowflex Revolution. Review it for yourself at BowflexRevolution.com.
Bowflex has been in business since 1986, successfully selling and improving its products for 20 years. And they have the experience and the satisfaction guaranteed to back up their products. Once you’ve read a Bowflex Revolution review, you’ll see that this machine is the one you need to make working out a seamless part of your lifestyle.

Bowflex® – Maintenance Tips
Once you receive your Bowflex Ultimate® 2 home gym, it is important that you perform ongoing maintenance on your machine to keep it in top notch condition. Here are some safety tips and maintenance tips to consider.
Upon arrival, you’ll want to thoroughly inspect the machine. The following guidelines are good ones to follow so your machine will perform properly.
When the Bowflex® home gym isn’t in use, make sure to disconnect the cables from the Power Rod® units. Using the “rod binding strap” that is included with your machine, bind all the rods together. When connecting or disconnecting the Power Rod® units from the cables, make sure to stand off to the side and not directly above the rods for your own safety.
After each use of your Bowflex® system, clean it with a non-abrasive cleanser. Any non-abrasive household cleaner or soap will do fine. Cleaning the machine after each use will keep it looking new. One caution: do not use cleansers designed for automotive interiors, for they may cause surfaces to become too slippery.
Each Bowflex® 2 home gym has D-clips that are used to connect attachment cables to resistance. Prior to making attachment cable changes, remove any resistance on the Power Rod® cable. Physical strain during the cable changing process will be reduced dramatically.
To ensure safe operation of the aerobic rowing feature, ensure the locking pin for the sliding seat is completely disengaged from the rail. It usually takes about ¼ turn. Once the pin is locked into the free slide position, you’ll hear a click confirming proper position.
For a safe workout area, all attachment cables should be stored when they aren’t in use. The cables for the Lat Tower have a built-in storage slot in the upper Lat Tower area. Squat cables should be stored in a safe place as well. Storage of cables reduces the risk of possible injury and maintains cable form, which means they’ll last longer.
The lat bar should be stored on the lat cross bar assembly before making resistance changes. If the lat bar is unsecured and resistance is removed, the lat bar could potentially drop to the floor and cause possible injury.
All pulleys and J bolts should be examined prior to using your new machine. Look specifically for grooves or thinning of parts greater than 1/16 inch deep. If you feel you need a replacement, call Bowflex® immediately for free replacements.
Likewise, check all handgrips and straps before using your machine. If any threads are loose, call the company and replace them before using your machine.
All of these simple maintenance and safety tips will ensure you will have an efficient and safe workout.

Setting Up A BowFlex And The Learning Curve
Setting Up A Bowflex
When you come home from the store with your new Bowflex home gym, plan on spending several hours putting it all together. Regardless of which Bowflex fitness equipment you select, unless you manage to purchase the display model, you’re going to need to assemble it once you get it home.
It’s recommended that you have someone assist you with putting your Bowflex together. Another set of hands is needed to hold pieces in place while you attach them together with the provided nuts and bolts. It would be next to impossible to put any of the Bowflex fitness equipment together by yourself!
That being said, the instructions that come with your Bowflex are not overly difficult to follow. They provide a large sized image of the fitness equipment completely assembled, with arrows and labels to show you what each piece is called. As the instructions describe each step, a picture of the pieces are shown to help you visually see how to put them together. This allows you to reference the pieces while you’re following the instructions on how to put the Bowflex together.
Learning to Use A Bowflex
One of the biggest benefits to having a Bowflex at home is the ability to work out whenever it is convenient for you. You don’t need to pack a bag and go to the gym. There’s no need to leave several hours early for work in the morning if you want to squeeze in a morning work out. You don’t have to wait for fitness equipment to become available, since the Bowflex is all yours.
If you’ve been working out at the gym for quite some time, you’ll have no trouble transitioning to a Bowflex. Any of the exercises you’ve been doing on various fitness equipment at the gym can be done on a Bowflex home gym. The Bowflex Ultimate(tm)2 can perform over 95 different exercises, covering each of your body’s muscles.
You won’t need to hire a professional fitness trainer to learn how to use the Bowflex fitness equipment. Once it’s put together, you can look through the manual to see all of the different exercises to do, and how to adjust the machine to perform each of them. The equipment is designed for easy adjusting, so your heart rate stays at its top performance level giving you the most health benefits possible. At the gym, when you wait for machines your heart rate drops below it’s target, and you lose out on some of the benefits. At home, you maintain that rate.
You can also watch demos of people doing Bowflex work outs on the Bowflex web site. Videos and DVD’s are available for anyone who is new to working out and wants a little instruction before diving in head first! You shouldn’t worry about being a little clumsy or sore using your fitness equipment for the first time; you will get better with practice!

Bowflex – Comparison of Ultimate Models
Bowflex offers many models of home gyms. Let’s look at the Bowflex Ultimate models. What are the differences between the Bowflex Ultimate® Home Gym and the Bowflex Ultimate® 2 Home Gym?
The Bowflex Ultimate® Home Gym offers the leg attachment, the lat tower attachment, the aerobic rowing feature, the squat station, and a 2-position adjustable main pulley system. In comparison, the Bowflex Ultimate® 2 Home Gym offers all of the above with the following exceptions: the Ultimate 2 offers an optional integrated abdominal crunch accessory, the Preacher curl attachment, and it has a 5-position adjustable (“no cable change“) main pulley system.
The Bowflex Ultimate® Home Gym offers 90 potential exercises, while the Ultimate 2 offers 95+ possible exercises. In the area of standard weight resistance, both machines offer 310 pounds. The Bowflex Ultimate® 2 offers a 410-pound weight resistance feature for an added cost. Both Bowflex® home gyms come with the patented Power Rod® no-time-limit warranty. In the event that you actually wear out these rods (which is highly unlikely considering the manner in which they are manufactured), the company will replace them free of charge.
A limited warranty on the machine itself is 10 years for the Bowflex Ultimate® Home Gym and 12 years for the Ultimate 2 machine.
The dimensions on these machines don’t differ by much, however, if storage space is a concern, then the Bowflex Ultimate® is slightly smaller in size. The folded footprint for the Bowflex Ultimate® is slightly smaller than the other machine.
Both Bowflex home gyms come with a workout DVD, an instructional manual and a motivational poster to place in your exercise area.
A non-skid mat is offered with both systems, at an extra cost. Place this mat under your home gym – it is essential for protecting your carpet or your flooring.
The price difference between the two is only about $400, depending on where you purchase your home gym. If an abdominal workout is extremely important to you, or you prefer not to change out the cables in between exercises, the Bowflex Ultimate® 2 might be the better choice for your home gym.
Overall, both home gyms are excellent products, whether you are a dedicated athlete or just beginning to get into fitness. Both systems will enable you to become stronger and leaner and help you to meet your personal physical fitness goals.
